Medium bio, 207 words
Alani Bankhead is a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel and former federal supervisory special agent. For two decades, in uniform and out, her work took her after the people most of us would rather not think about: terrorists, foreign spies, and the predators who hunt children.
She ran human-intelligence operations against Al Qaeda in Iraq, arrested child predators in Japan, commanded a unit in Kuwait, and as senior bodyguard to the Secretary of the Air Force led more than 200 agents on 700 protective missions, including three combat zones.
Her career has been built on bringing agencies together. She led an FBI and Defense Department counterintelligence task force that caught spies, directed more than 180 agents across eight countries, and ran trafficking and slavery investigations for an international nonprofit. In Hawaii she built the largest anti-child-exploitation cyber operations in the Pacific, uniting more than a dozen federal, state, local and nonprofit organizations, and on her final tour she did it again, bringing 17 law enforcement agencies into the Defense Department’s most extensive operation against child sex abuse.
She stands up for the people, and pushes back against the powerful. She is the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Montana, running on affordability, accountability, and protecting the vulnerable.
The three priorities
- Affordability for working families
- Accountability starting from the top
- Protecting the Vulnerable standing up for kids, survivors, and seniors
